Venerable Ajahn Jayanto
Born in Boston in 1967, Tan Ajahn Jayanto grew up in Newton and attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, during which time a period of world travel kindled a great interest in the spiritual life. A meditation class at the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center led him to live for a while at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, where he made plans to join the monastic community of Luang Por Sumedho as a postulant at Amaravati Monastery in England in 1989. Taking bhikkhu (monk) ordination at the related Cittaviveka Monastery in 1991, he trained there and at Aruna Ratanagiri Monastery until 1997, at which point he embarked on a period of practice in Thailand and other Asian Buddhist countries.
He returned to the UK in 2006, where he lived at Amaravati until moving to Temple in 2014. Since 2009 Tan Ajahn Jayanto has helped to lead the efforts to establish a branch monastery in New England, and he now serves as abbot of Temple Forest Monastery.
Once again, Aloka Foundation and Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia have jointly organized the ninth edition of 24-hr round-the-clock chanting for world peace, harmony and stability. BUBS has been invited to participate in this popular meritorious event.
This year’s 24-hr Metta Chanting will commence at 9.00 am on 28 December 2019 with the Official Opening and the first hour chanting (10.00 am to 11.00 am) by members of the Maha Sangha.
This year, BUBS has taken the 5pm to 6pm slot, on 28 December 2019. Members and friends are encouraged to join in this event of illuminating the world with loving kindness. Please whatsapp your name, number of participants and contact number to Bro Peck Hwa (012-3739107) or email to email@example.com and please remember to reserve this time slot in your calendar.
For those who have confirmed, we shall meet at UBV at 2:30 pm for carpooling.
For details, please contact Bro. Peck Hwa: 012-3739107.
We are pleased to advise that the travel agent has reverted on the ground cost.
The revised price is now only RM4,998. This covers all the 4 main sites: Bodhgaya, Lumbini, Kushinagar and Sarnath, and it comes with 2 domestic flights. The domestic flights are to minimise the time consuming and bus travelling so that pilgrims have more time to take on the uniqueness of each of the holy sites.
Revised Price: RM4,998
Includes hotel accommodation, van and coach transport, 3 meals a day, 2 domestic flights (Gaya – Varanasi, Lumbini – Kathmandu), shared teachers’ cost, entrance fee, tour escort etc.

This pilgrimage is not to be missed as we are indeed blessed to have Luang Por Thong Daeng of the Thai Forest tradition (who took ordination since age 21 and abbot of Doi Phra Chow Dtone Monastery, Chiangmai), guiding us in this spiritual trip with Tan Ajahn Moshe accompanying.
We encourage you to quickly register at https://forms.gle/aNpbcuWjtSMeJxj86 and we will be in touch with you.
