A. GENERAL INFORMATION

1. What is Ajahn Chah Remembrance Day?

It is a day to commemorate and remember the dhamma teachings of the late Venerable Ajahn Chah who passed away on 16 Jan 1992. It is also a day of gratitude, from student to teacher, as well as a day of reflection and dhamma practice.  This year is also to commemorate his 100th birth anniversary.

2. Where is it held?

3. What time will the event start and end?

The event starts at 7.00 am and ends around 7.35 pm on both days.

4. What is the programme for the day?

5. Besides Luang Por Liem, who will be the other speakers?

On both days , disciples of Ajahn Chah will also be giving dhamma teachings. Please click here for the programme for the list of speakers.

6. Will there be a Puja and Guided Meditation session?

Yes. There will be as indicated in the programme.

7. Will the talks be translated into Mandarin

Yes, some of the talks will be translated into Mandarin. Please refer to programme to find out which talks will be translated into Mandarin.

8. Do I have to register for the event?

Yes, we encourage you to register online. A copy of Ajahn Chah’s autobiography, “Stillness Flowing” will be given to registrants. As we have limited copies it will be given on a first come first serve basis and only one copy per family.

9. How can I participate?

  1. Bring an offering of food (vegetarian and/or non vegetarian) 7.00am - 7.30 am to the venue to be offered to the Sangha. Please refer to Dana - Meal Offering for more details. You can drive through to drop your food for Dana by using the gate at BU 3/1 ,Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.

  2. Make an offering of flowers, incense and light to the Triple Gem, we have prepared the offerings. Do not bring your own.

  3. As it is rare to participate in a spiritual event with so many of Ajahn Chah’s disciples from all over the world present  in Kuala Lumpur, you are strongly encouraged to make Extra Effort to attend this Auspicious Event. You can attend any or all the sessions throughout the day. We encourage you to attend all the sessions.

  4. Help promote this event to your family, colleagues and friends.

  5. Make a donation to defray the expenses either by cash, online transfer or credit card  at Bandar Utama Buddhist Society, 3 Jalan BU 3/1, Bandar Utama, 47800 Petaling Jaya.

  6. Donation can be made in BUBS office from 9 am to 5 pm (Monday to Saturday) or at the Sunday counter from 9 am to 1 pm. A tax exempt receipt will be issued for your donation. Please make this donation before 15 December 2018.

  7. You can also make a donation for Sangha requisites on 15 and 16 December 2018 by dropping your donation in the donation boxes provided.

10. Will there be food served on that day?

After the offering to the monks, there will be a community lunch for all. There will also be food and drinks for the public from 12 noon to 5 pm. Water will be available throughout the day. Please refer to Dana - Meal Offering for more details.

11. Will there be dhamma books by Ajahn Chah and his disciples for free distribution?

Yes. There will be a free distribution counter . Kindly bring your recyclable bag to carry the books home with you. Let us make a resolve to reduce the usage of plastic bags.
