Covid-19 Community Aid has been busy dispensing. To date, RM18,107.80 has been disbursed. We have put aside sufficient funds for the BU DUN's Rumah Makanan and fresh food distribution until December. This week, we replenished the Rumah Makanan at the Balairaya Kampung Sg Kayu Ara with basic necessities which were low in stock, such as rice, bihun, sugar, creamer, sanitary napkins, laundry powder (totalling RM1,900), as well as prepared 10 packs of fresh vegetables and eggs for local households in need (~RM33 per pack). It is indeed a relief and an encouragement to see a reduction in the number of applicants for this week's fresh food distribution by BU DUN. Yet, even as the intensity of the pandemic starts to settle down, Klang Valley's Covid-19 hospitalisation numbers saw a brief upswing last week reminding us we're not out of the woods yet. Sparing a thought for our hardworking community of medical frontliners who have just seen through the toughest months of the pandemic without a break, with overcrowded hospitals and limited resources, we decided to channel some of the donations in their honour. We have contributed RM8,000 to PPUM for their Covid-19 donation initiative, which includes medical consumables (PPE, tubings, high flow cannulas) as well as 100 lunch packs for their Covid frontliners. We will continue to support our BU neighbours in need as well as front liners as needed with the remainder of the donations (RM2,929,46). Extras, if any, will be donated to other food banks.
Thank you again to all donors for your generous contributions, for the opportunity to support communities in need within our midst. Sadhu, sadhu, sadhu!
