Patrick Kearney 

Patrick Kearney is an independent dharma teacher in the lineage of Mahasi Sayadaw. He has trained extensively in the Mahasi approach to insight meditation, his principal teachers being Panditarama Sayadaw and John Hale. He has also trained in the Diamond Sangha lineage of Zen Buddhism. His original teacher was Robert Aitken Roshi, and he has since studied with other Diamond Sangha teachers in Australia.

Patrick has a particular interest in the original teachings of the Buddha, before the creation of Theravada or Mahayana. He studies Pali, the language of the earliest surviving Indian recension of the Buddha's teachings, and seeks to bring his understanding of the early texts to the practice of dharma in the contemporary world.

7D6N India Pilgrimage 15 November 2019 – 21 November 2019

Come join us on a pilgrimage trip to Bodhgaya, Rajgir and Varanasi this November with Bhante Dhammavuddho Mahathera, the abbot of Vihara Buddha Gotama to:

  • Bodhgaya – the place of the Buddha’s enlightenment

  • Rajgir – The Vulture’s Peak, where the Buddha spent much time on retreat and where many of the discourses were taught.

  • Varanasi – Sarnath, the place the Buddha set in motion the wheel of the Dhamma

Travelling to Bodhgaya and Varanasi will be by flight.

Dhamma sessions will mainly be in Hokkien.

We welcome the elderly on this trip. All elderly people are to be accompanied by at least a family member who is to be fully responsible over their wellbeing.

Cost is estimated at RM5300 (including air fare and insurance but excluding India Visa fee).

Luang Por Sucitto

Born in London in 1949, Luang Por Sucitto entered monastic life in Thailand in 1975. He took bhikku ordination there in 1976 and returned to Britain in 1978 to train under Luang Por Sumedho in the lineage of the Thai Forest master, Luang Por Chah.

In 1979, Luang Por Sucitto was part of the group of monks that established Cittaviveka, Chithurst Buddhist Monastery in West Sussex, UK. Luang Por was abbot of Cittaviveka from 1992 till 2014. Presently, LP travels on teaching engagements throughout the world.

One of the activities on Wesak Day, Sunday, 19 May is the Blood Donation and Organ Donation Pledge.

The event will be held at our Bhavana Hall (1st floor) from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm.

For the information of intending blood donors we are pleased to share the Blood Donation Advisory with you.

This sharing is with a view to assist you in realising your intention of participating in this meritorious deed.

To be able to donate, donor must be:

  1. Not ill on day of donation

  2. Aged between 18-60 years

  3. Body weight exceeds 45 kg

  4. Slept more than 5 hrs the night before

  5. Had a meal before donating

  6. No health problems

  7. Did not consume alcoholic drinks within the last 24 hrs

  8. Did not take any medication or antibiotics during the past 7 days

  9. Not pregnant or menstruating

Please remember to bring along your IC/Police or Army Card/Passport.

Wesak Day Celebration 18-19 May 2019

As Buddhists, we celebrate Wesak to commemorate three important events in the life of the Buddha: his birth as Prince Siddhartha, his Enlightenment and his passing away at the age of eighty. Wesak will be celebrated on Sunday 19 May 2019 and our theme this year is “Know Your Mind; Train Your Mind; Free Your Mind”.

Our celebration starts on Wesak Eve evening, Sat 18 May. There is opportunity to participate in many meritorious deeds on Wesak Eve and Wesak Day such as listening to Dhamma talks, offering of dana, participating in the circumambulation, making offerings of lights and flowers and also blood donation.

Biodata of Ven Wei Wu

Ven. Wei Wu graduated from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand with B.E. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering in 1973.

He was awarded an Honorary Ph. D. in Buddhist Studies by Mahamakut Buddhist University, Thailand in 2013.

He worked with Hewlett Packard as a Quality Manager before starting his own consultant company in 1987 to serve many multi-national companies including Hewlett Packard, Procter and Gamble, Philips, Fiat and Astec in Asia, Europe and America.

He was ordained as a Buddhist monk in 1992 and received the Dharma Lineage of the Chan Chao-dong School in 1995. He established the Than Hsiang Foundation in Malaysia and Thailand and the International Buddhist College in Thailand.

He was also a monk for 17 years which give him the opportunity and time to study the theory and to do long intensive vipassana retreats.

 Ven. Sallekho

Ven. Sallekho was born in Halifax, Canada. In 2005, he completed a degree in music, and then travelled to Taiwan where he taught English for three years. In Taiwan he gained an interest in Buddhism, and in 2008 travelled to Wat Pah Nanachat in Thailand to seek ordination. After a period of training, he received Bhikkhu Ordination at Wat Nong Pah Pong, as part of the Wat Pah Nanachat community. He currently lives in Thailand.

Dhamma School Reopens & Ching Ming Dana on 7 April 2019

Ching Ming Dana by students of Dhamma School will be held on 07 April from 8.50am to 11.15am.

This event is an opportunity for parents to contribute food for Dana. Please bring cooked food and/or fruits to LG floor before 9.30am.

Parents may join students for the Blessings and Dana at Buddhacetiya Hall and Sanghadana Room respectively. Thereafter for community lunch on Lower Ground floor.
