In line with BUBS Vision of developing a Dhamma-inspired community, our theme for Wesak this year was“Our Vihara – Cultivating Our Heart and Mind”. We wish to record our gratitude and appreciation to Venerable Kittisobhano from Penang who kindly accepted our invitation to share the Dhamma on Wesak Eve and Wesak Day. We were also very fortunate to have Ayasma Rahula, Ayasma Khemadhamika and Ayasma Paladhamika from SBS, Taiping, to conduct the Paritta Chanting and the Venerable Monks from Sentul Buddhist Temple to conduct blessings for the public.
We would also like to thank our guests of honor, YB Puan Jamaliah Jamaluddin, State Assemblywoman for Bandar Utama and YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Member of Parliament Damansara, for being present to launch our Wesak celebration.
Besides activities for developing our spiritual well-being, we also had activities to promote our physical well-being. We are grateful for the support of the National Transplant Resource Centre HKL and National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM) who set up booths to create awareness on organ donation and stroke, and F90 Wellness for conducting free health assessments for the public. We would also like to thank Dr Khor Hui Min, Consultant Geriatrician, UMMC and Lead Trainer of Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM) for her very informative talk on Dementia.
We would like to thank our good neighbours, SJK(C) Puay Chai 2 and the Surau Management for again giving us permission to use their car parks, thereby easing congestion and making it easier for the public to visit our Vihara. Our appreciation too, to the BU residents who had to bear with the heavy traffic flow during our celebrations.
The Wesak Organising Committee did a great job with the various teams managing their tasks very well. There were many new volunteers this year. With the more seasoned volunteers taking the lead, the team spirit and enthusiasm amongst the volunteers was infectious and inspiring. We hope the new volunteers will continue to volunteer their services regularly to the society.
The performances by Dhamma School and BuddySings! were very impressive. It was wonderful seeing how confident and capable the children and Buddies were in carrying out their various responsibilities. A big Sadhu to them and their teachers.
Lastly, a big Thank You to the young scouts who came very early and stayed on till everything was cleaned up before leaving. A few were seen standing under the hot sun for hours directing traffic. Every year, they are such a big help to us.
We are very encouraged by the faith, dedication and generosity of our members, family, friends and the general public. Wesak 2023 would not be a success without your participation, co-operation and contributions.
Anumodana and Sadhu , Sadhu, Sadhu to all.
