Full Moon Day/Asalha Puja Observance & Chanting

  • Bandar Utama Buddhist Society (PPM-011-10-28032000) No. 3, Jalan BU 3/1 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, 47800 Malaysia (map)

Asalha Puja, also known as Dhamma Day, is one of Theravada Buddhism's most important festivals, celebrating Lord Buddha expounding the First Sermon to the five ascetics - the most crucial doctrine after his enlightenment. This first pivotal sermon is called Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, often referred to as the “Discourse that set the Wheel of Dhamma in Motion”.

On this special and auspicious day, which also marks the beginning of the 3-month Rains Retreat, let us reflect and contemplate on the essence of this first teaching by chanting the Dhammacakkapavathana Sutta, followed by our regular chanting of "Itipiso" 108 times.

We invite you to join us this Full Moon Day evening to  reaffirm our commitment to the Triple Gem.
