Biography
Ven. Ajahn Cagino is a Malaysian-born monk. He was once an internationally acclaimed professional photographer before dedicating his life to the spiritual path. He received his full bhikkhu ordination in 1996. To deepen his practice, he re-ordained at Wat Pah Nanachat in the Ajahn Chah lineage in 2001.
Ven. Ajahn undertook a 4,000-kilometre tudong – a solitary walking pilgrimage – in the rugged wilderness of North and Northeast Thailand, to document the daily lives and quiet dignity of forest monks. In 2010, he founded the Dhammagiri Foundation in Mae Hong Son in northern Thailand, a Buddhist children's home that provides Dhamma education for hill tribe children. In 2014, he established Wat Hongson Wanaram, which is officially recognized as the 302nd branch monastery of Wat Nong Pah Pong (an Ajahn Chah monastery).
