BUBS is organising a Cheng Beng Dana and Blessing on 5 April 2026. Monastics from Sentul Buddhist Temple will visit UBV to give a short Dhamma talk on the significance of offering Dana during the Cheng Beng period.

The talk and blessing will be held in the Buddhacetiya Hall at 9:00 am, followed by Dana at 10:00 am in the Sangha Dana room.

Biography:

Ajahn Dhammasiha was born in West Germany in 1966 in Berlin. Ajahn became a Theravāda Buddhist monk in 1996 in Sri Lanka and trained in the forest-monastery tradition of Luang Por Chah in Australia. Since 2007, he has been the Abbot of Dhammagiri Forest Hermitage near Brisbane, teaching meditation and Dhamma in Australia and abroad.

Biography:

Ven. Ajahn Achalo was ordained in 1996 in the Luang Por Chah forest tradition. Over the years, he trained under several respected teachers, with Tan Ajahn Anan as his main mentor. He is currently the Abbot of Anandagiri Forest Monastery in Phetchabun, Thailand. In recognition of his contributions, he was granted Thai citizenship in 2021 and received an ecclesiastical title in 2024.

Biodata:

Venerable Professor K.L. Dhammajoti, having retired from the Centre of Buddhist Studies at the University of Hong Kong in 2012, founded the Buddha-Dharma Centre of Hong Kong (BDCHK) and collaborated with the University of Kelaniya to offer Buddhist Studies programs. In 2020, he established the Vidyacarana Buddhist Resource (VBR) in Malaysia, continuing the collaboration with the University of Kelaniya locally. In 2023, he was conferred the title of Professor Emeritus by the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He is currently also the abbot of Hong Kong Aloka Vihara and Honorary Rector, International Buddhist College in Thailand.  

Venerable has been engaged in Buddhist research and teaching in both English and Chinese for over 30 years, with his studies on the “Sarvastivada Abhidharma” being at the forefront of international Buddhist scholarship.

Myanmar Earthquake Relief Support

As we celebrate this meaningful day with our Teachers from the Burmese Forest Tradition, let us also remember the Monastics and lay communities whose lives are affected by the recent earthquake in Myanmar.
